A new R&D office building, connected by a steel-framed pedestrian bridge to existing facilities.
M+L supported the project's environmental design goals in several fundamental ways. First, we designed the framing in such a way as to provide maximum efficiency to the routing of mechanical and electrical systems. Secondly, we chose structural connections that would cut down on beam and column sizes, thereby increasing the penetration of natural light into interior work areas.
This 110,000 sf project has received a number of awards, including the Presidential Citation for Sustainable Design, given by the Washington Chapter of the American Institute of Architects. |
